Such a Blessing!

Have you witnessed any blessings lately? Not sure? Blessings are not hidden treasures. They are not buried or locked up in secret hiding places. On the other hand, blessing do not announce themselves. A message does not arrive in the mail to let you know you have been blessed or alerting you that a blessing will be coming in your life. Blessing are often subtle, quiet, even silent as they drop into your life. Often you don't recognize them right away because the come disguised in everyday ordinary interactions and can easily go unnoticed.

As a follower of Jesus Christ, you should be expecting and very aware of the blessings. God provides blessings through life's situations, relationships, accomplishments and yes, even trials. Be on the lookout for blessings every day! Keep a journal of them, tell others about them, and be a blessing to others. You have a responsibility to be God's hands, eyes, and heart by filling a need, holding a hand, creating a solution, and reaching out to bless others as God has blessed you. Be an active participant in blessing others and in praising the Lord for the blessings you receive.

All these blessings will come on you and accompany you if you obey the LORD your God. Deuteronomy 28:2

Journey in Faith

It may be because I am married to a high school football coach that I am such a big football fan. I love watching football and could just spend the whole weekend doing it. This weekend was just the weekend for that with the NFL playoffs in progress. The funny thing is that I don't have a favorite football team. Still, all the hype with Tim Tebow, had led me to start cheering for him and the Denver Broncos. Tim has taken quite a journey in faith gaining admirers and even skeptics and enemies. Still, win or lose, his love for Jesus Christ provides all the focus that he needs to keep on the path he walks with the Lord.

Perhaps you have experienced your own up close and personal walk with the Lord. You may have had Him point out the path to follow and know that He has been there to support you even when you had doubt and fear. See, a journey in faith is often one that can leave you feeling vulnerable and unsure. It is often like taking a step in the dark and trusting that you are following the right road even when you can’t see where it leads.

As long as you are following the Lord, and are true to the journey you will never be lost, abandoned or unable to find the way. Yes, at times it may seem you are all on your own, but honestly, Christ is right where you are leading the way. Life is a journey and when you journey through life with the Lord, you have all you could ever need. Skeptics and unbelievers will stand in awe of you when you journey in faith with Jesus.

For your ways are in full view of the LORD, and he examines all your paths. Proverbs 5:21

Nothing Without You

You may have it all. House, family, career, friends, and health. You may be filled with confidence, creativity, determination and integrity. Still, you are reminded almost daily of your vulnerability. You have arrived at the place you are because of the grace and love of God.

Sure, you can think that you are pretty self sufficient and reliant. Still, you really are not. The truth is that you are totally and desperately dependent on God. Without Him, you have nothing! He is your creator, sustainer and reason for your life. He provides for you and loves you, maybe more than you realize. He loves you so much, He sent his only Son to die for your sins so that you may be with Him in eternity. See, it is true that God loves you! Without God you have nothing and with Him you have everything you could ever need.

 "LORD, you alone are my portion and my cup;
you make my lot secure." Psalm 16:5

Idle Worship

Christians have been warned and instructed by the Lord to remain clear of idol worship. Most understand this command and many follow God's instructions. There is yet another caution found in God's Word. We are instructed to remain free from being idle; also known as being satisfied with doing nothing. Now this is not in reference to enjoying a relaxing day at home or resting as you spend time with family and friends. Rather, this is referring to choosing to sit out on life's responsibilities and opportunities due to fear, indifference or lack of motivation.

Christians have a great responsibility to live in a way that is pleasing to the Lord and to set an example for others. That includes stepping out in faith and doing what is necessary to care for oneself and their family. It also means taking action to serve the Lord. By taking action you are not sitting idly by, but rather are caring, volunteering, providing encouragement, or simply being available to those that need you. There is so much to do! Take a moment to consider what you can do to be busy for the Lord and make a difference in your life and the lives of others.

Besides, they get into the habit of being idle and going about from house to house. And not only do they become idlers, but also busybodies who talk nonsense, saying things they ought not to.

Christmas Presence

The holly is in place and the tree is aglow. The letters to Santa have reached the North Pole. The shopping is done and the table is set. Everyone is wondering just what they will get. Yes, it is Christmas and everyone knows, the season is better when there is snow.

So together with loved ones, we gather to see, the family celebrate under the tree. But it's not the presents we are most grateful for, it's the gift of the Savior and yes, so much more. For Christmas is not merely a season or day. It is the presence of Jesus in our lives to stay. Let's pause for a moment and with voices raised give praises to the our Lord on this His birthday.

Merry Christmas blessing to you and your family,

From The Daily Journey

On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. Matthew 2:10-12
