Spirit-filled

This past week was filled with times of bravery and strength for those impacted by the hurricane that devastated the north eastern United States. There were many examples of heroism and stories of survival. There were expressions of gratitude and demonstrations of human kindness. It seems that the worst of circumstances brings out the best of the human spirit. People help those in need and each other in heart felt, simple but very significant ways.

When faced with difficult times and life threatening events, it is natural to be filled with fear and anxiety. Still, through these times of difficulty, God provides the strength, wisdom and determination needed to push beyond the situation and rise above it. When you know Jesus Christ, call out to him and count on him to intervene, you do so knowing that he hears you and will provide exactly what you need. The answer is not always what you would want. Often there are different outcomes then you expected or desired. Still, the Lord provides the spirit necessary to overcome and move forward in love and grace.

You were created to be bold and courageous. God sees in you far more than you see in yourself. His spirit is in you and with him you have far more ability and possibilities than you can imagine. Let the Lord lead you through adversity and fear. When you do you will find blessings and opportunities you otherwise never would have known.

"For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love and self-discipline." 2 Timothy 1:7
