Opportunity Knocking

Southern California's Orange County is host to two huge, long standing events; the Harvest Crusade and the Orange County Fair. Both are well known and draw enormous crowds. They also have another thing in common; they both provide an opportunity to share the gospel of Jesus Christ.

If you know anything about Greg Laurie and the Harvest Crusade, you already know the impact made on lives by this event through sharing the gospel. Harvest Crusade fills stadiums and venues to worship and share Jesus with multiple thousands of people annually. What you may not know, however, is that the Orange County Fair has an even greater chance of doing the same.

At the main entrance to the fair, where every single of the 1,183,971 fair visitors walks in to the grounds, is a small, unassuming booth with just a few men. They are the representatives of Gideon International. There they stand offering copies of The New Testament to everyone that enters. Of course, they are not able to provide a copy of The Word to everyone, not because they lacked enough copies, but because many walk right passed them without accepting the free gift.

That sounds familiar doesn't it? Jesus Christ offers salvation to every person that walks the earth, yet many come and go from planet earth without ever accepting the gift He so graciously offers. Still, some accept and share Jesus with others because of the personal relationship they have with Him.

You may have heard the expression, "You may be the only Bible some people will ever read." This is so very true. Whether you bring a friend to the Harvest Crusade, share scripture through a copy of The New Testament you received or purchased, or treat others in a way that makes them want to learn more about your relationship with God, you may be the only Bible some people have a chance to read! Don't miss the chance. Make the most of every opportunity. Someone's eternal life depends on it.

He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation." Mark 16:15
