Wise Counsel

You must admit that life is way more complicated now that it was years ago. The information and technology age has added a whole new dimension with more complexity. It is helpful to have people in your life that you can turn to for direction, advice and wise counsel. It may be that you need information about your computer system, financial investments, or some assistance in selecting a new car, home or school for yourself or family member. It is comforting when you know someone you can turn to that you trust and who has expertise and your best interest at heart.

Jesus Christ is always available to provide you with wise counsel. He has a desire to listen to your needs and direct you in the way to go. Perhaps you have a problem that is weighing heavy on your mind or you are feeling torn in a decision you need to make. Sure, you can seek advice from others, but remember to always seek the advice of the Lord Jesus. He will point you in the right direction every time. You will need to be still and listen, and maybe even wait, but He will never let you down. He has the expertise, insight, knowledge, and desire to guide you along life's journey no matter what. He is all knowing, all loving, and all you need .

"I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you." Psalm 32:8

Home of the Brave

We are celebrating the birthday of the most blessed and amazing nation on the face of the planet. Happy Birthday America! God has certainly had His hand upon the U.S. and has poured out many blessings. There have been, and continue to be, many brave men and women who have given their blood, sweat, and tears to make this nation the home of the brave. To them we give our whole hearted gratitude. It has not always been easy, in fact, more often than not it is difficult to stand up and keep this "One Nation Under God" free.

Yes, America is the earthly home of the brave, but Heaven is the true home of the brave. It is there that those who have given their lives to Jesus Christ shall enjoy eternity with Him.  Just think about that for a moment. Can you just imagine the brave individuals that will share in the glorious celebration in Heaven with the Lord? There will be the prophets, apostles, the thief on the cross, countess others and you! It takes bravery to be a follow of the Jesus and to acknowledge Him as your Lord and Savior. You may be ridiculed, hated, and even punished for what you believe, still your freedom in Christ is a miraculous blessing worth celebrating. Jump for joy, praise the Lord, embrace the day! For you are Heaven bound.

"I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world." John 17:14

Summer Reading

The hunt is on for the best books to fill the lazy days and warm nights of summer.  It may be a lasting effect of school days past or perhaps just a quirky habit. I don't try to understand it, I just have given in to it for years and will again this summer. As usual, I started by searching the "Times Best Seller" list. There was the typical array of literature including several memoirs, stories of the link between food and life, and some dramatic tales that were, for sure, too heavy for a light summer read. A few possibilities, and some never ever would I read that in a million years, sent me searching even further. Perhaps the Christian best seller list would offer just the thing. I found that Max, James and Joyce had been busy writing some new stuff and the "Five Love Languages" was still hanging around on the list from summer reading years ago.

Finally, I just decided I would leave it up to God and said,  "Lord, point me to the perfect book for summer." As is always the case with God, He surprised, wowed and awed me with the answer. He pointed me to something I first started reading in the summer of 1978. I had not planned on reading it then, in fact, I didn't even own a "readable" copy nor did anyone I knew! Still, by God's grace, I spent the summer reading cover to cover and being transformed by what I read and came to believe. He pointed me to the best selling, and life transforming, book and section of it ever; the New Testament's Gospel of John. It was there that I was literally wowed by words I had read many times before, but now were once again jumping off the pages and right into my heart.

Perhaps, you like me, are on the hunt for a summer best seller. Let me suggest to you that you search no further than the tattered and worn Book that you visit every day. Start by jumping to John, then ask the Lord to provide you a life changing summer reading experience that you will remember for years to come.

"I am not possessed by a demon," said Jesus, "but I honor my Father and you dishonor me. I am not seeking glory for myself; but there is one who seeks it, and he is the judge. I tell you the truth, if anyone keeps my word, he will never see death."John 8:49-51

This Day Belongs to the Father

It's Father's Day! Dad's everywhere are being honored for their love, commitment, and the sacrifices they make for their children. What a wonderful way to pause and acknowledge these very special men. Their dedication and care often go unnoticed. Their importance grows as their children do, until one day when their children finally have the eyes to see exactly how important they are! We are blessed to have them in our lives and would not have our lives without them.

This day and every day also belongs to our Heavenly Father. He too goes unnoticed at times, as in our busyness we frequently forget to praise and honor Him for all He does for us. He loves us so much that He sent his Son Jesus Christ to die for us. Glory be to Him! Never take for granted the gift of eternal life He has provided to you. Remember His example of gentle love, compassion, strength, peace, wisdom and understanding as you walk with Him each day. Make your Heavenly dad proud as you honor Him with your life. We are the most blessed children in the world. Thank you, Father, for being so awesome and amazing, and caring for us as only you can. We love you!!

"I and the Father are one." John 10:30

Fear Not

The world is a scary place. There are so many challenges and much to stand in your way. Life can become very paralyzing, frustrating, and worrisome. World events, crime, disease, taxes, and the economy are just a few things that cause concern. Add to that the daily stress of work, school, family matters, and health issues and you have way more than you can deal with. It is enough to make you feel anxious, nervous, and unable to cope.

Life's journey will always be sprinkled with trouble, touched with challenges, and tripped up by unexpected situations. There will be times when you'll think you have nowhere to turn. You may begin to feel out of control, helpless, maybe even hopeless. God is with you and He knows your needs. He is able and capable to intervene and see you through the most turbulent of times. Fear not and remember that you are special to your Heavenly Father and are constantly in His watchful sight. Through his Son Jesus Christ you have all you need. Don't take another step without reaching out to Him and trusting Him to l support, protect, and provide for you. With God on your side no one can come against you or defeat you. You are His.

"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you: I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."Isaiah 41:10
