No Words

There is so much to talk about. In person or via phone it seems everyone is talking. You talk to your family, friends and co-workers. You talk to the store clerk and the mail carrier. You also talked to God. Sometimes though you find that you are at a loss for words. You are not quite sure what to say or ask for. It may be that you are experiencing something so upsetting you can't even put a sentence together or you may just be so exhausted you can't think.

When words escape you and you can't even form a prayer, remember that God is still hearing you. He knows your heart and is well aware of the situation. In fact, whether you can pull together a prayer or not, Jesus is already addressing your need. Besides, Jesus knows about being too overwhelmed to speak. In fact, one of the most powerful passages in God's word is a passage about Jesus experiencing grief beyond words. Yes, even Jesus himself was moved to tears. He knows your pain and understands your grief. Whether you have words or can only sit with Him in silence, the result is the same. You are loved and cared for by the Living God. He is your Rock, Shield, and voice in the silence.

Jesus wept. John 11:35
