No Worries

Wouldn't it be great to not worry? Can you imagine? Life would be less stressful. You could breathe easier. You might even smile more and take just a few minutes to relax. Worry and anxiety are the opposite of peace and calm. They are the enemy's way of setting you into a spin. While you are spinning and fretting and, well, worrying, you are distracted from what God wants you to focus on.

What would you be focused on if you weren't worrying? You might be praising God, praying for a friend, singing a song, writing a note to encourage someone, talking a walk to smell the roses or counting your blessings. Worrying doesn't solve anything. It takes energy that you could be using to accomplish something great and wastes it. Not only that, you may have noticed that when you worry you get yourself all worked up and tense and make yourself physically ill. God does not want you to worry. He wants you to trust that He has everything in control. What can you do when worry sets in? Turn your attention away from worry and focus on God. When you do, you set into motion a process where grace, good and peace can fill your heart and soul. There in Jesus Christ you will find the refuge you have been seeking. Focus on God and say this: "I live within the shadow of the Almighty, sheltered by the God who is above all gods. This I declare, that he alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I am trusting Him. (Psalm 91:1-2)

Peace and grace be with you always - Gail
