Pull up a chair. Take a few moments to reach out. Listen. It is likely there is at least one person that you interact with, know or love that needs you to be Jesus to them. It may be someone in your family, a neighbor, or even the person that pours you coffee or bags your groceries each week. In this very busy, chaotic, technology driven world there is little time for listening. Jesus spent lots of time teaching but he also spent much time listening. In listening you learn and in learning you can make a difference.
You may listen and learn that you can bring some joy, calm a fear, share a story or wipe a tear. There in that moment, your kindness may shed some light, your light may chase away darkness and you just may open the person's eyes to Jesus. It may not seem possible but I assure you it is true. As a follower of Christ your listening ear has power, your soft voice has strength and your reflection of Christ can change the world for someone.
When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12
