There is someone out there, not that far from you. They may be a friend, family member, church member or co-worker. They likely aren't one to share their troubles or say much about their challenges. Still, they are struggling. Their struggle may be related to an addiction, relationship issue, financial worry, illness, or recent loss. They are going through the day trying to hold it all together and can pull it off for the most part. You can help by being Jesus to them.
Jesus saw into the hearts of the people he interacted with. He knew their deepest needs and fears. He listened to them and encouraged them. Jesus didn't have the discussion focus on himself, but rather took the opportunity to reach each person where they were and lead them to the truth. You can do the same. You can be Jesus to the person in your every day life that needs the touch that only Jesus can provide.
You are on a mission to be Jesus to someone. You won't need to travel to another country, board a plane, or take a leave of absence from your everyday life. Open your heart and your eyes. Pay attention to cues, body language and what may be said in casual conversation. Then, just like Jesus, listen with your heart, be encouraging and share the true story of hope in Christ. In doing so, you may impact a life, or many lives, in a miraculous way.
"Just then his disciples came back. They were shocked to find him talking to a woman, but none of them had the nerve to ask, "What do you want with her?" or "Why are you talking to her?" The Woman left her water jar besides the well and ran back to the village, telling everyone, "Come and see a man who told me everything I ever did! Could he possibly be the Messiah?" So the people came streaming from the village to see him. John 4:27-30
