First Things First

Perhaps you have had the experience. You receive a gift or purchase something that requires assembly and in your excitement begin the task without reading the instructions. Soon, you are frustrated and unsuccessful. Then you stop to understand the original intent of the manufacturer by reading the instructions and are able to complete the task. Even after this experience, you find yourself repeating the same mistake and failing to first read the instructions before attempting the challenge before you.

This same scenario likely occurs in life when you are faced with a challenge or complicated situation. You may find that you try to figure things out, make it work or tackle things yourself only to discover that you get no where. At this point, you may stop and look to the Lord, perhaps even say a prayer and then have the impossible become possible.

God wants to be first in your life, not an after thought. He wants this in all life issues, no matter if the matter is small or enormous. When faced with a problem, first thank God for placing you in the situation where you can see his glory and power in creating the solution. Then ask that he provide the insight or intervention needed to have the right outcome according to His will.
Now you can wait on Him and trust that he will guide you and provide you with the perfect outcome.

Jesus then took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed to those who were seated as much as they wanted. He did the same with the fish. When they had all had enough to eat, he said to his disciples, "Gather the scraps that are left over. Let nothing be wasted."
John 6:11-12
