This Too Shall Pass

Recently I was watching a young family at the grocery store. The small children were adorable and the parents very attentive. Like most children they were asking to have all sorts of things as the rolled through the store in a shopping cart. The parents responded as parents do, saying no to almost every request and looking a bit frazzled. The scene looked very familiar to me having raised three children of my own. So I smiled as I passed by and gave a word of encouragement, noting that it would get easier as they grew and some day the time spent shopping as a family would be but a memory.

Yes, time passes very quickly and children grow faster than one can even imagine. It is often difficult to just enjoy the moment and take in the beauty that it holds. The good news is that trials, problems, and challenges are also limited and they too will pass. As difficult as it is to see beyond the hard times, the pain or the problem, things usually resolve and work out. Take comfort in knowing that whatever you are dealing with God is right there with you. He knows every detail and will see you through. It really is true when people say "This too shall pass." However, the Lord, His Word and those that love Him will never pass but will be forever.

The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever. 1 John 2:17
