One in Christ

Last night, while slicing some Brie for crackers, I accidentally sliced my thumb instead and ended up in the urgent care. The good news was I missed the tendon and joint capsule. The bad news was it could only be covered with a plastic medicated seal and a pressure dressing with a splint applied, as there was nothing to stitched on or together. I was told to return in two days to have the pressure dressing removed, and to take Tylenol or Motrin for pain control.

I paced most of the night because my thumb was throbbing and burning. Tylenol and Motrin didn't relieve the pain but walking seemed to take my mind off it. Four hours later, I feel asleep for a couple hours of pain free relief.

It is amazing how an injured finger, ingrown toenail,or a toothache can be so debilitating. Even the smallest injury affects the entire body. What a great correlation and reminder about the Body of Christ. Just like a sore thumb affects the whole body, one hurting child of God affects the Body of Christ. You were created to serve God and His family. Is there someone you know that is hurting and in need? Is there something you can do to lend a hand, be a listening ear, encouraging word, or spiritual support? We are all part of the Body of Christ. Let each of us do what we can to give glory to God by supporting, caring and praying for the those that need what we were created to provide. In Christ we live, and breath, and are one.

"But God has put the body together, giving greater honor to the parts that lacked it, so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it." Corinthians 12:25-26
