Christmas Spirit

The Christmas season brings out the best and the worst in people. It is a very emotionally charged experience that evokes all kinds of memories and desires in the hearts and minds of individuals. Some are full of Christmas spirit and are excited, joyful and spreading good will to others, even total strangers. Others lack the spirit entirely and are withdrawn, sad, and even depressed. Expectations run high and feelings run deep. This is a very special time. It is the celebration of the most special One of all, Jesus. There is no other time quite like it and no other event that means as much to the entire world.

How is your Christmas spirit? Are you one who is in awe of the meaning and beauty of this holy time or are you not at all moved? If you are not in the spirit, ask yourself why. Chances are it is because you are overwhelmed by the world and your earthly circumstances. You may have lost a loved one, be in financial turmoil, be in the midst of an illness or supporting someone that is ill. No matter what you are in the middle of this Christmas, I pray that you will have a chance to experience the miraculous gift of Jesus Christ. His birthday is a time to recognize that in spite of adversity, there is always hope, light, and love. The miracle of Christmas crosses space and time. It is not confined to a set of conditions or specific place.  Christ loves you, is there for you and can reach you wherever you are. Merry Christmas to you! May blessings and peace abound.

"The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God." Luke 1:35
