Just Around the Bend

Life’s journey with Christ is not always easy. There are detours and u-turns. There are rough spots, bumps and worldly obstacles that keep the journey from going smoothly. Discouragement, doubt, and concern desire to join you and be your companion. They will call out to you as you walk, waiting for you to give in to their constant banter. From where you are you may not be able to see what’s up ahead. Your view may be obstructed by the twists in life’s road. Your sight may be clouded from spending too much time in the world and you may feel you are getting nowhere.

When you are on a daily journey with Jesus Christ you need not be distracted by the things that try to trip you up. Continue to walk with the Lord day in and day out. Refuse temptation and refrain from giving in to your flesh. You are too wise, too righteous and too blessed to fail. So put on your Gospel boots, pick up the shield of faith, strap on the belt of truth, and don the helmet of salvation. These, as well as the Word as your sword and righteousness as your breastplate, are certain to lead you successfully on your journey. Just around the bend blessings await you and Jesus is right there by your side to see that you make it all the way.

“Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.” Ephesians 6:14-18
