Deliver Us From Evil

Evil is real. It springs forth from the most hateful and sinister place of darkness. Jesus knew all about evil. He faced it and overcame it. He taught us to pray that we would be kept from it. In fact, He asked that we would be delivered from it. The word "deliver" means saved, set free from or rescued. That means evil is real and Jesus knew we should be seeking God's Almighty Hand to protect us. I pray too that God would protect us as well. Still, the reality is there is evil in this world and we are vulnerable.

If you have spent any time on planet earth you likely have witnessed evil. It rears its ugly head every day but is visible and evident to different people. Often evil is disguised and clearly seen by the naked eye. Still, if you know and are close to Jesus you may have a sense or be able to discern evil and distance yourself from it.

For sure, you will want to draw close to God and use the weapons of spiritual warfare to protect yourself and your loved ones from evil. If you are unfamiliar the armor that you will be using allow me to introduce you to it. These are the spiritual weapons of choice straight from Ephesians 6:12 -18

Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.  Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.  In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spiritwhich is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

May God grant you the strength, wisdom  grace and peace you require to be brave, bold and courageous.  Tighten your belt, get on your breastplate, set your helmet in place, pick up your shield and sword and get in the Word and be praying. Our country needs it. Our families require it. Our lives and the lives of future generations depends on it.  Onward Christian soldiers!
