Some Things Never Change

My husband and I had dinner with dear friends we've known for quite some time. We talked about the good old days, and the days before the good old days. We took a peek at a cookbook from the early 1900's and a notebook from 1910. Wow, times have changed! Gone are the days of having to pluck feathers off a chicken prior to roasting it or worrying about the proper order in which to wash dishes.

We realized that many of the things we grew up with our children and grandchildren will never know. Life has moved from:

- long playing records on a turntable to entire music collections streaming
- fresh milk with cream at the top in a glass bottle delivered to your doorstep to     organic fat free milk in a recycled paper carton
- a pair or two of PF Flyers to a closet full of designer shoes
- a few channels on the black and white rabbit eared TV to thousands of channels on the home theater
- chatting with neighbors on the front porch to conversations on text with your family while sitting in the same house

Yes, much has changed over the years but some things remain the same.  The beauty of a morning sunrise, the warm glow of a full moon on a chilly winter night, the thunderous sound of the waves breaking on the shore, the thrill of a rainbow, and the majestic view of a mountain range continues to awe and amaze us. Still, there is only one constant you can count on as never changing, no matter what year, climate, economic picture, or time. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. He reigns and remains victorious over death and evil. He loves you forever, and will never leave you or forsake you. Praise God for his certain, for sure, change proof, guaranteed promise and love. Amen!

For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations. Psalm 100:5
