Easter Miracle 2010

This Easter was unlike any other. Yes, it was special because our eldest daughter, her husband and our grandchildren were in from out of state, but there was even more to make it an incredible Easter. This Easter, while my husband and I watched a movie after dinner and dessert, our middle daughter and her boyfriend were hit by a drunk driver as they crossed a local intersection in her boyfriend's truck. The impact of  the small Honda at 50 plus miles an hour was primarily on the passenger side of the Ford truck where our daughter was seated. The truck was sent flipping three times through the intersection and landed upright on its wheel. Our daughter's boyfriend was assisted out of the truck by a passer-by, our daughter, however was trapped and needed to be freed from the wreckage by the fire department utilizing the "jaws of life".

It was a miracle that they survived the crash but even more, it was a miracle that they did not have any broken bones, extensive injury, internal bleeding or head trauma. The truck was totaled and, of course, the drunk driver was  unharmed. He was taken to jail and booked on a felony DUI. At the hospital we and the boyfriend's family praised God and were so relieved when we were told they were both going to be okay after the bumps, bruises, stiff muscles, and emotional trauma resolved. Thank you Lord for an amazing Easter miracle that taught us these lessons:

- Miracles still do happen ever day. The God of miracles and wonders is still at work in our lives and loves His children.
- God is mighty, able and awesome and will protect those He loves and preserve their lives
- There are no guarantees in life, but there are the promises of the Lord that are available to those that know Him as their Lord and Savior.
- Life and health are a precious gift that should never be taken for granted.
- Life is short and you never know what is waiting around the bend. Be reconciled with God through Christ Jesus, accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior.
- Don't waste your time arguing over things that really are not important, and in fact, could never be as important as those you love. Hug your loved ones and enjoy every moment you can with them.
- Always wear your seat belt while driving.
- Never drink and drive, and never let any one you know drive if they have been drinking.
- Ford trucks really are built tough and can withstand the force of a wreck, but God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ are a force to be reckoned with.

Thank you God for this amazing miracle and for loving us so very much. He reigns forever! Amen.

"Don't fear anything but the Lord of the armies of Heaven. If you fear Him you need fear nothing else." Isaiah 8:13
